Cyangugu is the capital city of the Rusizi district of the Western Province of Rwanda. It is very near to Bukavu (DRC) , and lies at the souther end of lake Kivu.  It is separate from Bukavu by the Ruzizi river. There is a dam across the Ruzizi river. Kamembe is the where the bulk of the population lives and it also has an Airport which serves the city with flights three times a week to Kigali. The city lies near Nyungwe Forest, a must see destination, home to chimpanzees and many other species of primate. It is also home to a large number of birds and insects also. Its a photographers paradise, a walk through the Nyungwe forest is something that should be done on your trip to Rwanda.
