Kibuye is a city in Karongi district, and the capital of Western Province in Rwanda. The city lies on the eastern shore of Lake Kivu, about halfway down, and between Gisenyi and Cyangugu. It is known as a beach resort, there are no sandy beaches in this area but there are islands and resorts having crystal clear rocky beaches and ideal for swimming. Kibuye is a one of the best places to go for a weekend from Kigali. If you are living in Kigali, Kibuye is the best destination for a week end get away. The resorts are all reasonably priced and well equipped. If you are an international traveler Kibuye is best visited by boat from Gisenyi.  The Ndaba Falls lie near the city. The peace island is also a must visit while in kibuye, it does have a camping site for the more adventurous. Peace island is definitely a must visit when in Kibuye.
